“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

An enthusiastic traveler, Dawn Chandler’s curiosity about and delight in the American landscape has taken her elsewhere from New Mexico—far and wide, here and there across the United States. Pictured here then is a selection of paintings from her travels in the western states of Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho, as well as points east, to Maryland’s Assateague Island, Vinalhaven Island off of the coast of Maine and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Most recently Dawn had the extraordinary experience of solo hiking Vermont’s 274-mile Long Trail. Established in 1910, the Long Trail is the oldest established long-distance footpath in the United States, predating the Appalachian Trail by some 20 years. Running the length of Vermont from Massachusetts to Canada, it winds through the forests and over the highest peaks of Vermont’s Green Mountains.  Read more of Dawn’s Vermont journey on her blog.
