R.I.P. Sweet Wilson. You were the best studio mascot an artist could ever ask for, and you are missed beyond expression.

Wilson was what I call a “Taos Purebred” — a little bit of everything. She was a tomboy girl pup, named after my mother, whose maiden name was Wilson and who loved animals, dogs especially.

Six months after my mother died of breast cancer, and nine months after my first dog, Girlie, died, I had decided I was about ready for a new dog. But I wasn’t going to go looking for one, rather, I sensed the right dog would come to me.

Not long after that friends found out in the sagebrush south of Taos an abandoned yet cheerful little 3-month old black puppy….
